CO2 is intangible
Seafields has a solution for CO2 sequestration that is easy to imagine. Our pressed Sargassum bales are natural "carbon batteries": seaweed grown in the ocean is pressed into bales and deposited at selected sites on the deep-sea floor - removing CO2 from the atmosphere for centuries.
Sargassum is one of nature's best candidates for solving climate change. It's free-floating, has a high carbon-to-nutrient ratio, doubles in size every two weeks and can grow with almost unlimited scale.
Why Sargassum?
Seafields will be the first to domesticate Sargassum, which will help us to promote ocean productivity and biodiversity, whilst allowing us to also extract useful resources to replace products made from fossil fuels.
